When raising money for charity, school functions, or a missions trip you sometimes need to be more creative in the methods that you use. It is fine to use a car wash – but everyone does that. After awhile people get bored of that tactic and will start to ignore it. It is up to you and your fundraising team to think of some creative fundraising ideas that will bring the people in because they are genuinely interested in what you have to offer them.
Make Food
Have you heard the old adage that the way into the person’s wallet is through their stomach? Ok, so I tweaked that saying a bit – but in all honesty a lot of people will fork over the money if it gets them some hot and delicious food. Why not whip up a meal of barbecue chicken, hamburgers, fries, mashed potatoes, corn, and of course something sweet to go with it.
If you throw in some soda or a sweet tea and price it relatively low than people are going to be coming over by the bunches. What better way to make the most money that you can than to prepare food and sell it to people that do not feel like making dinner on a Friday or Saturday night? Just make sure not to spend too much money on the food. Remember you have to make a profit.
Benefit Concert
There is always at least one or more bands trying to make a name for themselves in cities all around the world. Why not try to meet a few of the more common ones in your city and ask them to throw a benefit concert? Have it outside in the park and simply charge people to come and watch and to buy food. You could even set up family games for them to play.
Movie Night
Raising money by bringing families together is an awesome method and very creative. Try to set up a movie night in the park or even in your church’s meeting center. All you have to do is set up a large projector – which you can ask to be donated, provide some popcorn and refreshments and than charge them at the door. Make sure you choose movies that everyone is going to love.
